About us and Our Staff

Our children thrive in a safe and supportive environment, according to the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage, where we work in partnership with the parents.

We offer children a homely family atmosphere, and to ensure that this is maintained we keep staffing levels high, and ratios as generous as we can, ensuring quality throughout.

We are a Community Interest Company, and as such it is very important that we serve the local community in offering high quality childcare and employing local staff and trades people where possible.

We are set in an attractive residential area of Saffron Walden, serving the locality & within commuting distance of London & Cambridge.

The Nursery was established in the late 1980s by parents of the Bell Language School, later to be taken over by senior members of staff, one of whom is still one of our managers to this day.

Over the past few years the Nursery has grown and in April 2011 we moved into our newly refurbished college building, adjacent to the original setting.

Bell Day Nursery is open for 51 weeks of the year. We open at 08:00 hrs and close at 18:00 hrs Mondays to Fridays , and offer both full days and half days.

Our Staff
A trained and experienced team of varying ages cares for and educates the children giving a rich balance of energy, ideas and enthusiasm.

Happily our staff retention is good, which offers continuity of care to families with several children.

We have a rigorous DBS checking system in place. With a view to Continuous Professional Development our staff regularly attend courses and takes part in on line courses. All staff hold the full 12 hour First Aid, Safeguarding Certificates and Food Hygiene, which are updated every 3 years.

We have staff who attend Health and safety training and other specialist areas as required by Ofsted.

Nursery Policies
We have all policies as laid down in legislation by Ofsted, which cover all aspects of Nursery life.

The up to date legislation on Safeguarding Children means that if we ever suspect that a child's physical or emotional safety is in question we are duty bound by law to report the facts to Social Services.
